Hydraulic Pullers have been in use since the 1800's, but their contribution to the building work gave way to the more automated system. Hydraulic pressure is extracted from a shaft in order to move or lift objects using a pump. They are used in construction of roads, buildings, bridges, and many other places. As compared to the older mechanical methods, the hydraulic system has replaced them due to the greater advantages it offers. One of its most important characteristics is its ability to maintain constant pressure in the work area even if there is a considerable distance between the pulling object and the work surface.
There are many types of Hydraulic Pullers available in the market. Some examples are: cylinder-driven, double-ended, drum-driven, direct-vent, and indirect-vent. In case of the drum-driven type, a drum or cylinder is placed on the end of a shaft, while the double-ended one mounts on both ends of a shaft and functions as a pump. The cylinder-driven type features a pump driven by a cylinder, while the direct-vent ones function by drawing in a discharge jet of hydraulic fluid directly from the source.
Hydraulic Pullers are controlled by either electric or hydraulic motor. In addition, they can also be operated with the help of pneumatic or oil means. In a way, it can be called a dynamic machine as it requires the application of force for the exertion of a continuous period of time. This feature makes them capable of lifting objects of considerable weight. The Hydraulic Puller uses the following mechanism in order to operate:
First, the work area must be measured. The distance between the work pole and the longest part of the puller structure is called the ram point. Next, the workpiece to be lifted must be placed on the lower end of the ram point. Hydraulic fluid is then pumped into the hydraulic pullers and the workpiece is lifted into the air above the work area.
Thirdly, the work piece is guided through the hoist shaft using an electric motor. The workpiece is now guided into the upper part of the hydraulic cylinder. Lastly, the work is slowly released from the hydraulic pullers into the air above the work surface. The Hydraulic pullers are capable of lifting a weight of up to 200 tons.
While working with Hydraulic Puller Sets, you must make sure that there is a proper and sufficient amount of hydraulic fluid pumped into the system. Hydraulic Pump Sets work on three main levels namely, surface, pit, and shaft. The hydraulic pump plays a vital role in the functioning of Hydraulic Puller Sets. It ensures a steady flow of hydraulic fluid through the system thus facilitating a reliable operation of the device.
